For Ralph Lauren’s 50th anniversary show, the brand returned to the same location as his 40th in 2008, this time round at the famous Bethesda Terrace in Central Park. The show attendees included celebrities like Kanye West, Anna Wintour, Oprah Winfrey, Hillary Clinton, Jessica Chastain, Robert Di Niro, designer icons Tommy Hilfiger and Diane Von Furstenberg, to name a few.

Get Wild! Summer Benefit – Presented By The Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center

The Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center of the Hamptons celebrated their 12^thAnnual GET WILD! Summer Gala at Joan and Bernard Carl’s Little Orchard Gardenon Coopers Neck Lane in Southampton. The event honored Jay Schneiderman, Southampton Town Supervisor and Susan McGraw Keber, East Hampton Town Trustee, and welcomed distinguished guests to celebrate the united efforts to rehabilitate animals and successfully release them back into the wild across Long Island.

The Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center, Eastern Long Island’s only wildlife hospital, is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to the rehabilitation of wild animals impacted by encroachment of humans on their habitat. It is a grass roots organization that grew from a few concerned friends to a group of over 3,000 members and supporters. The center is a full-time professional wildlife hospital staffed by licensed rehabilitators, biologists, animal behaviorists and volunteers. Over 300 people have been trained to assist in wildlife rescues. The Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center is located on Munn’s Pond Park through a cooperative licensing agreement with Suffolk County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation. The center is situated on a greenbelt of public land parcels totaling several thousand acres and stretches from Tiana Bay to Peconic Bay located on the eastern end of Long Island, NY. This is a unique and irreplaceable ecosystem consisting of salt and fresh water wetlands, Pine Barrens, deciduous forest and meadowland. Thus, it is the perfect setting for a wildlife rehabilitation center. The hospital is designed exclusively for wild animals. Unlike a veterinary hospital, there are no ambient noises or smells to stress the wildlife that are recovering within. The Wildlife Rescue Center receives more than 10,000 calls each year for information or assistance involving wild animal encounters. The center also provides educational programs to local elementary and secondary schools. Students from local colleges participate in cooperative education programs and internships. The Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center annual operating budget exceeds $650,000, almost all of which comes from generous donors.    WildlifeRescueCenter.org

In 1985, renowned chefs Larry Forgione and Jonathan Waxman were spearheading plans for a benefit evening that would mark the eighty-second birthday of Citymeals Co-Founder James Beard and feature chefs from across the country, including many of Beard’s protégés. Sadly, he passed away just months before the event. Instead of canceling, fellow Co-Founder Gael Greene and the participating chefs decided to honor Beard at the party.

Inspired by the idea of making crystal accessible to more people, Daniel Swarovski, a Bohemian jeweller, patents an electric cutting machine that cuts crystal more precisely than by hand. In 1895 he founds Swarovski in the small town of Wattens, high in the Austrian alps, because the energy potential offered by nearby rivers makes it the ideal destination for Swarovski’s first production site.

Delta’s GRAMMY celebrations commenced, when the airline hosted hundreds of customers, partners, friends and celebrities at The Bowery Hotel for its annual GRAMMY Awards Party. This year’s party brought to life New York City’s own rich musical history in a classic, stylish way — with city backdrops, a subway-inspired DJ booth, and more. VIP guests included Nick Cannon, Katie Holmes, Vanessa Hudgens, Lea Michele and Rita Ora.

Guests were treated to a memorable night of music with an exclusive private performance from first-time nominee Julia Michaels, up for two GRAMMY Awards — “Best New Artist” and “Song of The Year” — for “Issues,” her debut solo single that climbed to No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. Steven Spielberg‘s docudrama “The Post” won Best Picture and boasts both lead performance winners with Meryl Streep prevailing for her portrayal of Washington Post publisher Katharine Graham and Tom Hanks winning for his take on the paper’s editor Ben Bradlee.

Times Square – New Years Eve – Waterford Crystal Ball

The Times Square Ball is a time ball located in New York City’s Times Square. Located on the roof of One Times Square, the ball is a prominent part of a New Year’s Eve celebration in Times Square commonly referred to as the ball drop, where the ball descends 141 feet  in 60 seconds down a specially designed flagpole, beginning at 11:59:00 p.m. ET, and resting at midnight to signal the start of the new year. In recent years, the festivities have been preceded by live entertainment, including performances by musicians.

The event was first organized by Adolph Ochs, owner of The New York Times newspaper, as a successor to a series of New Year’s Eve fireworks displays he held at the building to promote its status as the new headquarters of the Times, while the ball itself was designed by Artkraft Strauss. First held on December 31, 1907, to welcome 1908, the ball drop has been held annually since, except in 1942 and 1943 in observance of wartime blackouts.

The ball’s design has been updated over the years to reflect improvements in lighting technology; the ball was initially constructed from wood and iron, and lit with 100 incandescent light bulbs. The current incarnation, designed by Harlem-based architectural lighting firm Focus Lighting, features a computerized LED lighting system and an outer surface consisting of triangular crystal panels. These panels are produced by Waterford Crystal, and contain inscriptions representing a yearly theme.

Steve Martin has a flair for surreal comedy — a style that suits “Meteor Shower,” his new play about the existential mischief caused one night in 1993 when a deluge of meteors rains down on the boutique city of Ojai, Calif.  Before this singular night is through, two married couples will have gotten under each other’s skins, so to speak, and undergone major character transformations.
